Watching May 18 (화려한 휴가) was probably not the best idea for a pre-bed movie. Tonight started out well; I watched WALL-E again, since Iris's flailing about it when she watched it made me want to see it. Watched the October 11th episode of Shokura, as mentioned in the last post.

Moved on to most of Coming Century's most recent live tour (okay, I kinda sped through a lot of the songs in search of ones I knew, MCs, and VTRs but I will watch the rest some time), which was predictably entertaining (and had unexpectedly fail costumes at some points - really, V6 had been doing so well). Okada really does love his skinship. XD He managed to grab both Go and Ken's asses at different points; with Go, it was pretty quick since they were walking, but Go still noticed while Okada pretended like he hadn't done anything, and with Ken, he used the ass-grabbing to push Ken along the stage, and Ken told him to not do that. XD

And then I watched May 18, since it had finished downloading. It's a Korean movie, based on the brutal crushing of a supposed civilian uprising in May 1980 by a somewhat rogue military force. I guess I kept comparing it to Tae Guk Gi in my head, since that's the other Korean war movie I've seen, and both have main characters who are brothers. This one is not quite as gory as Tae Guk Gi, but just the fact that it's not about two armies fighting one another - it's about the military vs. civilians/a civilian militia made it - I think - more poignant for me. Well, I feel like I cried through a good quarter of it.

They had random comedic characters in it, which was a bit unsettling... since, ultimately, you know there won't be a happy ending, and at least one of the funny guys was more of a caricature than a character, so it was hard to match that with the context of the movie. The main character's arc was pretty predictable, as well, but there aren't too many different directions one can go in a movie like this.

At any rate, I generally liked it, but it's not the best movie to sleep on.

So now I have screencaps from the Kamisen tour final, their first in six years. :D

Okada's Skinship

Yeah, Ken's wearing an entirely-polkadotted suit in the first one. >.> And no, that's not Okada's hand front and center on Go's crotch in the second one - it's Go's, but it looks like it could be Okada's, so it amuses me. :P The third one is Okada really copping a feel.

They led into their solo songs (all three in a row) with a VTR that had really short snippets of them doing various things by themselves.



Like here is Go, looking pretty and bored and blue, waiting for a phone call from a girl. :D



Then we have Okada, who puts on his watch, puts on a hat, grabs his keys, and disappears in a fade-to-black, over which we hear... the sound of a shower. Cue screaming!

And then, there is Ken. This is where I unexpectedly just burst out laughing.



I felt bad for laughing because Ken is emo-ing in the shower, but it was just so... I don't know. Idol-y. But he also had fail hair when they filmed this, so even if I wasn't laughing, I wouldn't be able to appreciate it to the full extent of its value. >.>

After ending on a closeup of Ken's shoulderblades and the back of his head, he appears. In a fail costume. Okada and Go both fare much better, which makes Ken's fail stand out more. I just feel like if you're going to be naked in your intro for the song, you might as well dress Cool and not remind me of a golfer and Go'd be more fitting for that.



Okada also gets to actually have physical contact with the female dancers, and gets 3/4 of the female dance group. :P There was a different song in which Kamisen each had one of the male dancers as a metaphorical-for-the-sake-of-dance puppet on strings, too.

And sleepiness just hit me like a ton of bricks. Wow. *blinks* Time for bed, hopefully without dreams of bloodshed. >.>

I didn't know about it until I was poking through Lee Jun Ki's filmography the other day. I guess from our American perspective, the 80s were a pretty peaceful time at home, and, well, standard history classes still don't really teach much of what happens in Asia. :/

I have been reluctant to download that concert (I know I will eventually/soon) just because I've been having an issue with burning stuff off my computer, but eeeeeeeeeee. WTF Kamisen is playing now! You know I am not even surprised anymore.

XDDD It is a pretty giant file. But it seemed pretty good from what I saw, though I'll never get used to non-Junior backdancers for a JE group (unless it's Koichi), and they had some questionable costumes. >.> Aside from that, (^-^)b
